Miami International University is looking for an innovative, creative, dynamic chairperson that has the ability to build and sustain and new Master’s program in Design and Media Management. The perfect candidate would bring expertise in managing within a creative field. A doctorate is preferred for this position however, MFA and MBA candidates will be considered. Summary: The Chair for Master of Arts in Design and Media Management is the principal academic officer for the program. The program focuses on teaching creative art-design students and professionals how to lead and manage design and media arts ventures within their own creative industries. Responsibilities include: day-to-day operations, assisting students toward successful program completion; hiring appropiate, credentialed faculty who support the mission of the university; participating in activities that promote the growth of the program, interacting and overseeing program success in multiple locations; is responsible for the fiscal well-being of the program and abides by the mandates set by the Board of Trustees, the President, and the Executive Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic leadership and select, train, develop, manage, and lead faculty and staff team members according to the guidelines provided by the Dean of Academic Affairs.

Handle teaching assignment, if necessary, in addition to coordinate multi-campus scheduling duties.

Integrate the multiple campus delivery format to ensure high standards and maintain continuous improvement for the quality of the graduate program.

Provide consultation on any academic problems or difficulties encountered by graduate students and function as an important source of information and advice for all graduate applicants; assist with orientation of incoming graduate students.

Develop and conduct information sessions, open houses, and other marketing initiatives to grow enrollment; assist in maintaining university web page(s) updated; promote external links, employer relations and strategic alliances with a wide range of professional groups and organizations.

Responsible for the leadership of any quality assurance processes related to graduate studies.

Participate in appropriate committees and/or teams.

Ability to work evenings and weekend hours as deemed necessary

Other responsibilities as determined by the Dean of Academic Affairs.
