CG Supervisor (TV)

Description

This role is responsible for managing the Episodic CG team so as to achieve objectives within established timeframes. Work co-operatively with other members of Lucasfilm Animation and the overseas studio to build and maintain quality, creativity, and technical standards that are consistently high throughout the Animation division.


Overall technical oversight of the animated television series at both the domestic and international studios.

Manages Modeling Team, 3D Story Lead, Matte Painters and ATD(s).

Determines the technical approach and provides the technical leadership needed to achieve the desired level to serve the established style/look of CG animated episodic television production.

Builds and maintains clear communication channels with direct reports, peers, supervisors, related departments, overseas partners and other divisions as necessary, to ensure that all parties have the correct and up-to-date information they need to be able to make effective decisions with regards to the episodic production

Works with production management in estimating project schedules and resource needs.

Works with R&D to determine projects and timelines required for the series.

Monitors project progress, directs crew and makes necessary changes to ensure project will be completed on time and within budget constraints.

Works with the Producer, and Director to set the tone and direction for the episodic project. Offers useful alternatives to the Director and Producer when problems develop, explaining fully the scheduling and design ramifications of each alternative.

Works with Technology Management and R&D teams to develop tools and techniques designed to meet the episodic production goals of the studio.

Determines and oversees the technical approach and procedures for the project with partner studios to ensure compatibility both technically and stylistically.

Ensures proper use of resources and archival procedures are followed. Ensures all project technical standards and documentation is maintained.

Actively participates in the recruiting and staffing of the modelers/riggers, 3D story artists, matte painters, and ATDs - assesses the work of prospective candidates for the hiring process and works with production management on hiring decisions.
