ImageMovers Digital is a new motion picture studio in Marin County devoted to the performance capture films of Academy Award-winning director/producer Robert Zemeckis. Established in 2006, we currently employ over 200 employees and continue to search for talented individuals to join our company. We are currently in production on the new performance capture feature “A Christmas Carol” starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and the three ghosts.

Lighting Supervisor

The Lighting Supervisor provides oversight for the creative and technical direction for the lighting department and the studio. The position involves guiding development of the lighting pipeline, ensuring that creative direction is fulfilled, and focusing on both issues internal to the department as well as those that pertain to the ways in which other departments interface with Lighting. This position also supervises creation of lighting setups for distribution into the production pipeline. The Lighting Supervisor will interact with teams of artists to ensure that the technical and aesthetic goals of the productions are met and maintained throughout the process. The Lighting Supervisor will work closely with the executive team, the producers, and the Director to collaborate on guiding the direction and evolution of the studio’s lighting pipeline.


Responsibilities:

• Key contributor in shaping the studio’s present and future lighting pipeline. Will be interacting directly with key creatives – including the Director - to help shape the studio and lead lighting on all current and future projects.
• Works closely with Production Engineering and R&D to define a lighting toolset for the studio. This involves addressing immediate needs as well as long-term goals.
• Communicates with the look development group in order to ensure all necessary parameters and functionality are included in production lighting tools and rigs
• Responsible for supervising the design and setup of standard lighting rigs for characters and environments.
• Closely collaborates with Compositing Supervisor to define requirements for rendering as it relates to compositing – creating render passes and breaking scenes up into logical groups as per compositing and stereoscopic needs
• Lead teams of artists in a hands-on capacity to ensure proper technical and artistic implementation of lighting rigs and look-developed assets
• Keep supervisors apprised of issues arising in shot production and offering creative solutions
