Established in 2006, ImageMovers Digital is a motion picture studio in Marin County devoted to the performance capture films of Academy Award-winning director/producer Robert Zemeckis. We currently employ over 300 employees and continue to search for talented individuals to join our company. We are currently in production on the feature film “A Christmas Carol” starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and the three ghosts of Christmas.

Lighting Technical Director

Lighting Technical Directors will design and create the look of computer generated objects and scenes. Lighting TDs will work closely with the VFX Supervisor, the VFX Producer, animation and modeling supervisors, and the DFX supervisors to determine the studio needs, either alone or under the guidance of the Technical Lighting Supervisor. It is the responsibility of each Lighting TD to ensure that the technical and aesthetic goals of the production are met and maintained throughout the production process.


Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain leading-edge proprietary tools, shaders, plug-ins, and scripts used in the production pipeline.
• Work with all disciplines to develop best practices for the studio inter-departmental workflows as well as contribute to the design and development of the studio’s production pipeline.
• Assist in the development of a feature film pipeline.
• Collaborate with Production Engineering and R&D in fulfilling the needs of production.
• Contribute to the design and development of Lighting workflow and toolset.
• Create master light rigs for sets/scenes.
• Work closely with Surfacing Supervisor and Compositing Supervisor to develop render pass strategies.
• Work with the Compositing Supervisor to develop lighting-to-compositing workflow.
• Collaborate with the entire Lighting team and the Compositing team to ensure that the vision of the Director and Art Director are always being met and that a consistent look to the show is being maintained.
• Responsible for compiling the various elements of a shot and seeing it through to completion.
