Resource Supervisor

The Resource Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the pool of Resource Technical Assistants and supervises the continuous support of the studio’s rendering & data management needs during all aspects of the production. This includes render job and render farm management, disk space utilization, I/O functions and writing basic tools & utilities. To be successful in this role, the person will need to be a hands-on supervisor, have a thorough understanding of the entire production pipeline, and can either program or – at the very minimum – understand enough programming in order to step in and help guide, mentor, and direct the Resource TAs.


Responsibilities:

• Actively supervises and communicates with all production contacts to ensure the show(s) follow all facility data management procedures
• Communicate with Production teams daily to prioritize and manage all rendering needs. Alerting Productions to any conflicts such as over allocation, downtimes, etc., and how they can be resolved.
• Coordinates processor allocations with Production and departments. Balances processor demands within show, between shows, and as a share of facility pool.
• Supervise the pool of RTA’s as they actively monitor and manage the render farm and render jobs, ensuring that production shots are ready for dallies & the farm is running at maximum capacity.
• Liaison with the Systems and IMD Development teams with the Technology DPM to schedule and prioritize internal tools and utility projects for farm and disk management.
• Actively monitor and manage disk space usage across all IMD campuses, earmarking files for archiving, or deletion. Ensuring these processes are followed through in a timely manner.
• Supervise and administer any I/O needs, ensuring files conform to facility structures.
• Working hand-in-hand with Production Engineering and R&D to maintain and improve the render farm pipeline and toolset.
• Data management and monitoring across the directory structure.
• Assist Director of Technology with Software License administration if needed.
