Lead Level Designer

Purpose of Position:

-The incumbent will plan, distribute, and supervise the work of the level designers.The incumbent will ensure the team’s optimal performance and resolve and manage the situations that hinder the attainment of level design goals.



Mission:

The main and routine tasks of the project leader, level design are to:

-Assess the workload vs. production capacity, plan the work, and set priorities for the level design team;

-Allocate duties and follow the evolution of the team’s progress on level design deliverables;

-Communicate the project objectives, strategies, and general information to all team members so as to give visibility to the advancement of the development of the game and the other crafts;

-Actively participate in the decision-making process with management and oversee the necessary adjustments to ensure that the level design team meets expectations;

-Carry out performance follow ups and assessments;

-Participate in the selection of team members;

With the associate producer, determine the schedules and vacation times of team members;

-Manage any conflicts that arise within the team;

-Supervise and plan the correction of the level design bug identified by the testers;

-Create a work environment that is motivating for team members and which fosters development and creation;

-Support career advancement and suggest development and interpersonal skills training and techniques sessions to team members;

-Carry out all other related tasks.



Training:

Attestation of collegial studies in game level design and production and a certificate in project management, or equivalent.



Relevant Experience:

Minimum of 5 years as a level designer. Experience supervising a level design team a significant asset. Any other relevant experience.



Other Skills:

-Excellent ability to organize and structure his/her own work and that of the team (follow ups, control, schedule);

-Communication skills (inter-team, etc.);

-Management and planning skills;

-Ability to adapt to situations;

-Strong analytical skills;

-Ability to work as part of a team;

-Client focus (internal and external).
