ImageMovers Digital is a new motion picture studio in Marin County devoted to the performance capture films of Academy Award-winning director/producer Robert Zemeckis. Established in 2006, we currently employ over 250 employees and continue to search for talented individuals to join our company. We are currently in production on the new performance capture feature “A Christmas Carol” starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge and the three ghosts.

Sr. R&D Engineer
Rig Compiler

This position will initially be responsible for designing and authoring a system for translating a Maya character scene composed of a complex network of rigging nodes and deformers into compiled code optimized for real-time feedback. The results of this system will then feed into various software applications including but not limited to Maya and Motionbuilder for real-time preview of characters. This will be utilized by the actors in evaluating their motion captured performance "on the fly" by the animation department for real-time feedback for timing purposes.

At the end of this project, the position will be assigned to other projects matched to the skill and experience required below. This position also requires excellent communication and organization skills, clear thinking, and pragmatic approaches to designing software.


Responsibilities:

• Work with the rigging department to understand the fundamental building blocks of their character rigging pipeline.
• Produce system for quickly and efficiently optimizing Maya character rigs and converting them into real-time ready assets.
• Serve as a team member to a group that is being formed specifically for a real-time animation project and will be required to liaise with various departments to resolve any issues associated with the project.
