Summary of Position:

The Studio Tools department is responsible for Pixar's in-house movie production software. This software has been used to make the Academy Award-winning films The Incredibles and Finding Nemo.

The Studio Tools user interface design group is looking for a talented Interaction Designer to create world-class designs for advanced animation and movie-production systems. This position is part of a small design team, which works collaboratively with the Director, developers and end-users to design and build powerful graphics software.

The ideal candidate should be fluent in the theory and practice of designing user-centered systems and have a well-developed software literacy that includes a thorough understanding of GUI conventions across a variety of platforms.

Responsibilities:

- Work with user interface design team to develop new ideas and alternate solutions to design problems.
- Iterate at a quick pace in a Feature Team with members from the Engineering, QA and Documentation teams.
- Create and communicate designs in the form of storyboards, mock-ups, or specifications.
- Research common workflows of users in Production and develop interface solutions to optimize their tasks.
- Create prototypes when necessary to test new interactions and gestures.
- Understand and execute on the creative vision of the Director.
