Rochester Institute of Technology’s Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science (CIS) is seeking an outstanding individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants will be considered in any area of imaging science, color science or their applications. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research expertise and knowledge will allow them to contribute to both the Imaging Science and Color Science graduate programs and who also have a strong interest in teaching at the undergraduate level.

Both the Imaging Science and the Color Science programs are broadly multidisciplinary. The Center for Imaging Science has research strengths in a number of areas, including astronomical imaging, biomedical imaging, color science, document reconstruction, imaging algorithms and systems modeling, nanoimaging and materials, optics, printers and displays, remote sensing, and visual perception. The successful applicant will be capable of enhancing and expanding RIT’s current imaging science and/or color science research expertise while also teaching fundamental courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. CIS is an interdisciplinary university research and education center offering undergraduate and masters and PhD degrees in Imaging Science, masters and PhD degrees in Color Science and, in conjunction with the Physics and Mathematics departments, PhD degrees in Astrophysical Sciences and Technology. The Center’s Munsell Color Science Laboratory (mcsl.rit.edu) is one of the world’s leading academic laboratories dedicated specifically to color science. RIT and the surrounding community have a rich history in imaging and color science research and applications. There are many opportunities for collaborations across the RIT campus with diverse research and academic programs including astrophysics, computer graphics, computer science, digital cinema, engineering, graphic arts, material science, and sustainability.
