UI Artist

Description

The User Interface Artist is a member of the art team. He or she is involved in the day-to-day creation of UI assets either as part of a project or for the studio generally. The User Interface Artist is also responsible for ensuring that he or she is effectively sharing his or her experience and expertise to assist junior artists in continuing their professional development.
The User Interface Artist is expected to have the training, skills, abilities and technical/professional knowledge to complete more complex assignments and to complete less complex assignments more quickly than more junior animators. The User Interface Artist is expected to be able to generate worthwhile new ideas or techniques having practical applications and to apply new ideas/concepts.
The User Interface Artist is expected to handle a larger number of different responsibilities and to exhibit more effective time management skills. Quality expectations for the User Interface Artist’s work product are commensurate with the degree of seniority of the individual.
Specific duties include:
• Working closely with the UI programming team to implement all aspects of the User Interface.
• Accurately creating visual elements in line with the visual direction defined by the Art Department Head and the Project Art Lead.
• Frequently interfacing with the Art Lead and concept art team to ensure consistency between concept and UI assets.
• Working with Art Lead and Designers to ensure that all UI elements contribute to an outstanding game play experience.
• Taking ownership of assigned tasks, taking pride in the quality of the work.
• Acting as a resource to the junior members of the Art team and other staff, and acting as a representative of the Art Department within the studio.
• Preparing assets for export to game engine.
• Performing art tasks as necessary including, but not limited to: modeling, texturing, environmental art, special effects, concept art, 2D art, etc.
• Consistently striving to exceed the highest quality standards of the studio.
• Demonstrating enthusiasm, drive and a sense of urgency when performing job functions.
• Remaining flexible in undertaking any other such duties and responsibilities as directed.
