Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) markets the PlayStation® family of products and develops, publishes, markets, and distributes software for the PlayStation®Portable entertainment system, PlayStation®2 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, for the North American market.

Sony PlayStation: Senior Programmer, Game Audio
San Diego, California

SCEA is looking for a well-rounded Sr. Audio Programmer with experience in developing game audio, AI, and game system code. This person will work with existing PlayStation 3 sound system libraries to implement game sound effects, voice over, music, and commentary logic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for support and enhancement of existing and new game audio features on multiple PlayStation 3 titles.
• Tasks will include designing, building, and maintaining in-game audio systems that promote code sharing and scalability across multiple platforms and titles.
• Work closely with other game programmers to acquire information necessary to create deep and intelligent audio.
• Work closely with audio personnel to help design and implement solutions.
• Work with platform support group to debug and improve shared audio technology.
• Expose testing and tuning interfaces that promote the audio group's ability to fine-tune in-game audio.
• Write functional specifications based on audio design documents.
• Work with designers and script writer to review and comment on audio scripts
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4+ years of professional game programming experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++.
• B.S. degree in Computer Science, Math, or Engineering.
• Must be able to listen intently to complex soundscapes, listening to both the parts and the whole.
• Able to hear, recognize, and find solutions to audio problems.
• Well-organized and detail oriented.
• Able to manage integration of large amounts of audio data into a game and work with audio engineers to deliver content in game.
• Ability to breakdown designs into tasks. Ability to schedule tasks, set goals, and meet those goals.
• Familiar with audio production methods and software.
• Have a passion for creating high-quality game audio.
• Enjoys playing video games.

• Ability to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing development environment.
• Some game play and AI experience.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Team minded work ethic.
• Enjoys working with sound designers, script writers, producers, and other programmers.
• Interest in Sports video games.
• Experience with audio programming on PlayStation 2 or PlayStation 3.
• Debug SPU audio jobs.
