Feature Animation - Environment Technical Director

Description

The Environment TD on the Animated feature will be a generalist technical director that work strictly in the environments department under the supervision of the Environments Supervisor. Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Set Assembly: Importing of assets into sets and placement based on PPA set and turnover notes. When appropriate, add custom lights and other basic effects (working with fx department leads). When appropriate fix basic asset look issues while building sets. Use(and help develop) various tools to streamline set construction. With the guidance from the Environments Supervisor, explore procedural texture generation techniques. Set Dressing: Application of particle based setdressing techniques. Application Curve based (and hair system) set dressing techniques . Help in the development and implementation of general procedural instancing techniques based on set specific challenges. Set Rendering: Create set level look that allows the rendering of the set and all it's children atomic assets. Work with Lighting leads and Lighting supervisor to help streamline set render times. Work with Lighting leads and Lighting supervisor to help troubleshoot sets at the shot level. Application of LOD techniques when required.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline required. Advanced degree preferred. 3-5 years demonstrated experience in software or systems development for computer graphics. Significant experience and working knowledge of software development using C. Scripting experience desired, preferably in Python. Must be able to work well with a wide range of personality types. Ability to work in all levels of the organization. Must be detail oriented, have strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. Demonstrated ability to use logic to problem-solve. Willingness to take initiative and resolve problems. Experience supporting End Users is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail and quality control. Ability to work well independently within a fast paced, dynamic, deadline orientated environment.
