Modeler (Character or Environment)
Description
We are currently seeking Modelers at various levels specializing in Character and/or Environment Modeling in both our vfx and feature animation departments. These are STAFF positions.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Create photorealistic models from scratch that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project.
Demonstrated skill with major character/creature work and or environments.
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed.
Be able to provide guidance and mentorship to other modelers.
Work closely with the texture artists to ensure all models work smoothly within the texture pipeline as well as the modeling pipeline.
Work closely with the riggers in the case of character models to ensure models work smoothly within the rigging pipeline as well as the modeling pipeline.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience Required:
A wide range of experience and skills that can be used to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
3+ years of experience creating models for feature films in Maya. Leading or mentoring experience is a plus.
College degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or engineering, or a related field and/or a combination of education and experience that would be equivalent to that level of professionalism, problem solving and analytical skills.
Skills, Abilities,
Special Licenses or Certificate:
Extensive experience working from 2D reference as well as cyberscan data. Cyslice experience is a plus.
Zbrush and Mudbox experience is preferred.
Photorealistic texture painting and lighting experience is a plus.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
