Description:

Astral is seeking an individual with strong IT skills and broadcast post production experience.  This is a hands-on technical position that will be responsible for both the day-to-day systems maintenance/upgrades of our post production facilities, as well as project planning, documenting processes, hardware/software evaluation and implementation for new initiatives.

 

 

Requirements

Skill Requirements:

· Expert IT skills in management of Mac OS X computers.

· Good IT skills in a Windows-based corporate network environment, and with specific experience in a mixed Mac/Windows environment. Familiarity with AdmitMac software a plus.

· Specific experience with all our major software applications, 3DSMax, Maya, Cinema 4D, Adobe CS5, Avid, ISIS, Media Composer, Final Cut (desirable)

· Ability to evaluate new vendor solutions and work through system integration problems, with multiple suppliers, in our mixed vendor environment, and generate operating budgets.

· Knowledge of management of render farms. Familiarity with Qube render farms a plus.

· Specific experience with graphics and broadcast workflows, file formats, transcoding, etc.

· Working in a file based environment, good familiarity with best practices for file management, data protection/security and archive.

· Knowledge of TACTIC media management software a plus. This position will be responsible for managing all day-to-day data storage requirements for our post production facilities using TACTIC.

· Solid understanding of multiplatform/multimedia production requirements in a broadcast environment.

· Excellent communication skills, including the ability to help non-technical staff understand and work through complex technical issues.

· Excellent trouble shooting skills.

· Collaborative team player. This position will bridge IT, post production and broadcast operations.

· Education: Ideally the candidate will have a college diploma with studies focused on IT, with at least two years experience in a broadcast graphics, post production environment.
