Design & Visual Communications Instructor

Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy, a growing college located in the heart of downtown Chicago, is seeking qualified candidates to teach Visual Design classes.  Design & Visual Communications is Tribeca Flashpoint’s newest and growing discipline that focuses on preparing students for careers in the Visual Communication industry.

This full-time Faculty position is in the classroom instructing students approximately 18-20 hours a week.  Additional responsibilities include advising students, grading, ensuring continuity across multiple sections of courses, participating in prospective student admissions interviews, and participating in the development of curriculum. 

Throughout the two-year program, students create identity packages, craft media & marketing strategies for specific projects, and design packaging/advertising connected to real-world projects with their peers. These projects are then incorporated into the students’ professional reels completed at the end of the second year. 

Part-time Adjunct positions are also available.


Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field REQUIRED.  Prior teaching experience at the college level preferred.
  • Proven industry experience of 5+ years working in various positions as a Graphic Designer, Interactive Media Designer, Corporate Communications Designer, Print and Package Designer, Motion Graphics Designer, and/or Art Director.
  • Advanced working knowledge of design tools and techniques utilizing Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Flash.
  • A strong interest in translating your knowledge and experience to an eager, small, focused group of students.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail is a must given the demands of an academic environment.
  • Must have a team player attitude and a strong sense of initiative to help grow the program.
