Technical Artist

We are looking for the right person to be a Technical Artist of our Hunt Valley Studio. The right candidate is technically savvy and also an artist at heart, has the ability to digest, understand, solve and communicate highly technical challenges on present and future pipelines. BreakAway Games is located in Hunt Valley MD in the greater Baltimore-Washington area. BreakAway Games has a generous compensation package which includes, health, dental, vision and 401K participation.

Responsibilities

Create, distribute, and maintain custom scripts for the art team.

Work to solve work-flow and pipeline issues.

Work with programmers and artists to develop art-centric tools and scripts

Create user interfaces for applications and web-sites.

Create 3d models, UV and texture.

Requirements

Requirements

BFA, BS or equivalent.

A passion for making and playing games.

Unafraid to learn new platforms and tools

Desired Skills / Extras

Skills

Proficient in 3d and animation tools including 3d Studio, Maya

Proficient in 2d paint programs including Photoshop.

Proficient in UI design using COTS tools such as Adobe Flash or Microsoft Expression

UI Code Comprehension and construction abilities, using some of the following: Action Script, WPF/Silverlight C#/XAML

Script writing including Maxscript.

Java script experience

Ability to communicate clearly and work with other team members.

High degree of organization and detail oriented.

Pluses

Advanced experience in rigging, weighting and animating.

Develop custom shaders with graphics programmers for special effects.

Expertise in Web development.

Unity game engine experience.
