Instructor

Description

Pixl Visn Media Arts Academy offers world class training for 3D animation and Visual Effects in Film Television and Video Games. We are seeking talented industry professionals to teach classes. Applicants should have 4+ Years  of experience in their field and expert knowledge of the tools and software. Previous experience as an instructor is not essential, but is a plus. 

Classes can be taught onsite at our campus in Cologne, Germany or remotely through live webcasting software, giving our instructors the freedom to work from anywhere in the world.  Lessons can be delivered in either English or German depending on the preference of the Instructor.

Positions are part time and can be scheduled around regular working hours; each class is two hours long and is held on a weekly basis. In total there are 11 classes per quarter, for 22 hours instruction time.

Rates are between 40  USD and 80  USD per hour depending on experience and qualifications and topic.



Requirements

Shading / Texturing Instructor

• Working knowledge of Maya surfacing and Mental Ray Shaders

• 3+ years experience as a Lighter/Shader

• Have a good knowledge of the physics of lights and materials

• Texturing and shading for hard surface materials

• Texturing and shading for organic objects

• creating photo-realistic textures

• Photoshop layout/texture artist

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Experience teaching a plus

 

Visual Effects Instructor

• Experience as a VFX Artist / Compositor

• Work with 3D and Live action to create VFX shot

• Experience working with Matchmoving and camera tracking

• Skilled at compositing with After Effects or Nuke

• Knowledge of multi-pass rendering for composite-based control

• Understanding of Shading / Texturing / Lighting / Rendering 3D for live plate integration

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Experience teaching a plus

 

Rigging Instructor

• creating and maintaining animator friendly rigging

• Knowledge techniques and technologies relating to character rigging and animation.

• Ability to rig, weight and setup controls and interfaces for characters

• understanding of anatomy, volumes and masses, dynamics and character motion

• Expert knowledge of Maya particularly Maya rigging tools including joint and skeleton creation, skinning and weighting, IK setup, blend-shapes, and deformers.

• Mel Scripting Experience a bonus

• 3 years commercial, TV, or film experience

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Experience teaching a plus


Nuke Compositing Instructor

• have a strong sense of colour, colourspace and attention to detail

•  able to do any required tracking (both 2D and 3D)

•  possess strong roto and paint abilities

•  experienced using multi-pass CG elements

•  Proficient using 2.5d approaches, projections and using the 3D environment within Nuke.

•  Ability to use HDR Image based lighting for photorealistic 3D renders

•  Using 3D Software alongside Nuke for to set up, export and comp render passes

• Work with 3D elements for live plate integration

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Experience teaching a plus

 

Dynamic Effects Animation Instructor

• Good knowledge of Soft and Rigid Body Simulation

• Experience with particle simulations

• Knowledge of fluid simulations for various effects

• Production use of Cloth and Hair simulations

• Effects animation experience

• Familiarity with mental ray preferred

• Experience in producing effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, dust and explosions

• A good CG generalist BG is desirable

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Experience teaching a plus
