Lead Architect

Nokia’s Location & Commerce business was created to deliver differentiated location experiences for mobile products, the navigation industry, the automotive market and government and business solutions. Today people own and use multiple mobile devices. These devices are getting smarter – first, because they are increasingly connected to the cloud, and second because they’re becoming sensor-rich. Thus they know more and more about their surroundings and the activities of their users. By leveraging our leading position in social location services and location data, Location & Commerce is set to enable a complete offering to consumers and B2B customers that reaches across screens and device types. By complementing hardware, software and services with “smart” social location data, we can help users experience the world in a variety of new and better ways.We are looking for a Lead Architect to provide guidance and leadership across massive Big Data real-time and analytical systems in cloud environment. Will work with other architects, developers and operations specialists to establish and maintain technical vision and technology introduction roadmaps, evaluate new solutions and designs, establish and maintain adaptable and efficient system and application architectures.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or another hard science or engineering degree. MSc/PhD preferred.

- Minimum of 10 years relevant work experience with 3 years as a Sr. Architect or equivalent relevant work experience.

- Experience in defining and implementing technical vision aligned with customer expectations, business priorities and constraints. Proven architectural leadership driving the technology direction for projects and organizations and being the key decision maker with respect to technical direction.

- Experience in translating complex technical concepts into actionable items for development teams and executive briefs for Sr. Leadership

- Strategic thinking and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to combine broad technical, business and political factors.

- Strong understanding and hands on experience in Core Java, JEE, Spring

- Strong foundational knowledge and experience with network programming and message exchange standards and systems (Netty, 0MQ, JMS, RabbitMQ, QPID,…)

- Understanding Big Data analytical systems (Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra..)

- Familiar with designing, creating and consuming Web Services (REST, SOAP, JSON, …) and multi-tier applications in Java.

Desired Skills / Extras

- Experience architecting and deploying large mission critical systems in cloud environments (AWS, Google,...).

- Familiar with continuous integration environments (e.g. Jenkins, Anthill Pro, etc.).

- Familiar with SQL (Oracle,..) and NoSQL (Mongo, CouchDB,..) development.

- Understanding distributed real-time message processing systems (CEP, Storm, S4, Dempsy,..)

- Understanding enterprise data integration platforms (Camel, Talend, Pentaho,..)

- Open source software project contributor
