Asst. Professor in-Residence: Motion Graphics

Assistant Professor in-Residence: Digital Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, 2D Animation and Production

The University of Connecticut - Stamford, School of Fine Arts invites applications for a nine month, non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in-Residence. The position will have a creative focus on Digital Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, 2D Animation and Production for the Digital Arts, Film and Video to start 8/23/2014, renewable on an annual basis. The selected candidate will teach introduction to graduate level classes, as well as, support faculty collaborations through the Digital Media Center centered on animation and motion graphics for purposes of Entertainment, Marketing, Branding, Advertising and Artistic expression.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BFA, BA or BS in Art, Animation, Digital Media or other appropriate fields. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable.
  • Demonstrated and current expertise in: PhotoShop, Illustrator, Adobe AfterEffects, Adobe Premiere Pro, 3D Studio Max, Maya, SoftImage (modeling, lighting, textures, rigging, and camera movement); familiarity with Nuke a plus. Digital portfolio demonstrating ideation, design, final project implementation.
  • Evidence of engagement in institutional and/or professional service.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA or MFA in Art, Animation, Digital Media or other appropriate fields.
  • A record of distinguished teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level.
  • Demonstrated professional/commercial experience working with film and/or video productions; advertising or marketing agencies; entertainment companies; video gaming companies; and/or technical visualization agencies.
  • A digital portfolio demonstrating extensive professional Digital Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, 2D and/or 3D animation experience in any or all of the following areas: film and/or video production, video game development and production, ePublishing, advertising/marketing production, and/or creative making.
  • The ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

This is a full-time, nine (9)-month, appointment. Salary is competitive and based on qualifications and professional experience. The successful candidate’s primary academic appointment will be at the UConn Stamford campus with the possibility of travel to Storrs on occasion.
