Software Developer - GeoEvent
Description
Are you interested in developing
and evolving Esri’s real-time GIS product that helps drive faster decision
making and response times? Esri’s ArcGIS GeoEvent Processor for Server enables
the ingestion of real-time data, performs continuous processing and analysis on
events, and produces features and alerts. This is a challenging opportunity for
you to help us provide frontline users of GIS applications with instantaneous
information to react and respond in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Design,
create, test, and customize ArcGIS products using Java technologies and
functional programming languages such as Scala
- Interact
with users to perform requirements analyses
- Participate
in all phases of the product development life cycle including requirements
gathering and analysis, design, build, test, and deployment
- Write
technical documentation as needed
- Work
closely with product engineers and other solutions software developers
Job Requirements
- Minimum of
three years of experience working in a software development or GIS
application development environment
- Minimum of
three years of programming experience with Java
- Background
in object-oriented design with some exposure to functional programming
- Desire to
design, write, test, debug, profile, manage, and document source code
- Familiarity
with agile software development methodologies and software design
techniques
- Excellent
verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with a diverse
team
- Bachelor’s
or master’s in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a
related field, depending on position level
Recommended Qualifications
- Five or
more years of programming experience with Java
- Functional
programming experience with Scala
- Experience
using ArcGIS software
- Familiarity
with network protocols, distributed computing, and/or stream processing
- Knowledge
of NoSQL databases and big data stores
- Previous
involvement in a large software development project
