Senior UX Deisgner

Ideal candidates have a blend of strong design, organization, communication skills and business acumen. You will be the advocate for the user. Reporting to the Director of User Experience, you will work closely with Product Management and Engineering to define and deliver innovative online learning experiences. You will increase end-user satisfaction and engagement—nothing short of helping to revolutionize the way people learn.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Understand business goals, product roadmaps and KPIs, and user insights to translate into clear UX priorities for yourself.
  • Create outstanding visual and interaction designs, and intuitive information architecture and user flows. Hold yourself and your team to a high standard of design quality.
  • Follow and influence design style and brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders using an Agile/SCRUM development process to progressively deliver user stories, user flows, storyboards, mock-ups, prototypes, and final designs.
  • Conduct frequent, light-weight user testing to gain a deep, data-driven understanding of customer needs and validate usability throughout the design process.
  • Generate excitement for the design direction on product initiatives, and gather internal feedback for the team from stakeholders. Be the user advocate in various forums.
  • Stay current with the latest design and technology trends across web, desktop, and mobile platforms, and adopt modern techniques as appropriate.

Experience and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years in a User Experience or Interaction Architecture role for consumer-facing web applications
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in a creative or design-related field
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience with one or more wireframing and web design tools such as OmniGraffle, Illustrator, Fireworks, or Photoshop
  • Ability to create pixel-level mockups and/or clickable high-fidelity prototypes from scratch and based on an existing style guide
  • Have successfully worked in an Agile/SCRUM/Lean-UX environment with rapid validation and iteration
  • Experience working with HTML/CSS/JavaScript/jQuery and prototyping tools (such as Dreamweaver or Axure) strongly desired
  • Passion for learning and staying current with latest design trends by actively seeking and researching new ideas across the ecosystem
  • Familiarity with user-interface guidelines and best practices for major platforms (popular HTML5, CSS3, javascript, iOS, Android, MacOS, Windows) and an understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and tradeoffs of various technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, and willingness to share work at all stages and offer and accept feedback openly and objectively
  • Outstanding oral and written presentation skills, including ability to target content to the audience
  • Must be organized, proactive, act independently, and juggle multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced, often changing environment
  • Must provide online portfolio showcasing the applicant’s best work, including samples illustrating the creative exploration and evolution process (sketches, mocks, mark-up)
