Game Economy Designer

Our new New York game development studio is adding a Game Economy Designer to handle in-game economies and monetization for Seattle studio games. The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems design, economies, and monetization of free-to-play games.

Responsibilities: 

This designer will oversee the in-game economy and work hands-on with analytics to make informed decisions based on the numbers to ultimately ensure monetization success. We are looking for positive individuals who are inspired by working in a team setting and who naturally motivate those around them.

Duties

• Design and implement in-game economic systems for titles within the Seattle studio.
• Champion economic features within the development team.
• Balance and tune faucets and sinks to maintain high player engagement throughout the player lifecycle.
• Collaborate with other monetization and design team members to achieve top quality experiences for both free-to-play and paying users.
• Optimize economic performance continuously using analytics and other feedback points.
• Propose/execute strategies that successfully and measurably improve monetization.
• Evaluate game performance on all platforms to identify opportunities and weaknesses.
• Provide reports and weekly progress updates to all stakeholders involved
• Analyze competitors and engage in benchmarking.

• 2+ years of experience living, breathing, and dreaming complex numerical relationships in a systems design, product manager, monetization designer, or related role.
• Advanced understanding of social/online games and related monetization strategies.
• Track record of managing a game economy and/or monetization during live support.
• Ability to plan, organize and complete multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
• The missing period from the section above both jumped out at you and irritates you.
• Strong understanding of video game mechanics and gameplay.
• Superior verbal and written communications skills.
• Expert knowledge of Excel, including macros and scripts.
• Passion for creating video games!

• Exceptional work ethic and positive attitude.

• Experience analyzing data using MySQL, R, SAS, or other statistical software is a plus.
• Programming and/or gameplay scripting experience is a plus.
