Description
Exceptional Minds (EM) is a dynamic vocational
training program and computer animation/visual effects studio for young adults
with autism. We are currently seeking a VFX Instructor to build upon our
existing Visual Effects (VFX) curriculum in order to ensure the best possible
education for our student population.
The VFX Instructor will work under the Program Director of Exceptional Minds towards the development of
curriculum and instruction of industry
best-practices in VFX.
The VFX Instructor responsibilities include, but
are not limited to:

Teach technical
and artistic principles of VFX production including compositing, rotoscoping,
paint cleanup, plate preparation, plate restoration, and stereo conversion.

Bring
industry best practices of the 2D VFX curriculum at EM and keep abreast of the
current workflows in the trade.
·
Participate
in curriculum and program development meetings; research and incorporate
industry best practices into the EM VFX curriculum.
·
Help Program
Director, staff, student and parents develop and implement Individualized
Career Plans (ICP) for each student with respect to career advancement in VFX.
·
Mentor
students in the VFX process; guide students in all aspects of developing a body
of work for employment in VFX facilities.
·
Present
TechOps – share insights gained from research into new technologies, practices,
and processes with other faculty and staff members.
Requirements:
·
Experience teaching
2D VFX at the college or professional-education level.
·
5 yrs of professional
experience: including marker and rig removal, shape creation, editing, and
animation, hand and procedural/comp paint, plate restoration and correction for
comp.
·
High level
of professional achievement and industry credentials in 2D VFX (i.e. BA, MA
and/or Certifications)
·
Comprehensive
knowledge of VFX pipeline and software (such as Maya, After Effects, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Mocha, Silhouette, Nuke).
·
Ability to
communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of students and support
staff.
·
Experience
with teens and young adults with ASD a plus.
·
Excellent communication, interpersonal
and problem solving skills.
·
Enthusiasm to
support and further EM Program and its Objectives.
