Concept Artist (Temp) - Creative Development

Description

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced concept artist to join its development team. The concept artist must be experienced in designing creatures, characters, environments, props, and FX studies for both, science fiction and fantasy genres. Work methods should include quick-sketching, clean line art, photo collaging and full painting. 

Besides a strong understanding of anatomy and perspective, the ideal candidate should also possess a solid grasp of the unique elements and distinctive visual styles of Blizzard Entertainment's universes. Proficiency in any of the major 3D packages is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create concepts for various projects as assigned. Concept work would range from, but are not limited to:
    • Characters, environment, props, lighting, and FX studies.
    • Black and white sketches to fully painted images as needed for the project.
    • May also be done using a variety of 3D packages to model and render assets.
  • Create in-game art for Blizzard Entertainment’s development teams on occasion.
  • Work with producers to complete tasks by the assigned due dates.
  • Work with art lead to achieve the necessary final image quality.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience with Photoshop and other 2D art / painting programs
  • Superior eye for light, value, composition, color, staging, and detail in environmental design
  • Experience working in the pre-production aspects of game development and movie / animated feature film-making
  • Exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy
  • A solid skill set able to tackle creature design, FX design, environments, and props
  • Experience with the creation of orthographics for characters, sets, or props
  • Understanding of Blizzard Entertainment's distinctive visual style, and a passion to push it to the next level
  • Unrelenting self-motivation and drive
PLUSES
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art or related field
  • Familiar with working with traditional art mediums
  • Sculpting experience
  • Modeling and texturing using 3DS Max, Maya, Z-brush, MudBox, or equivalent software
