Game Director

Following the development of many successful titles on iPhone such as the Modern Combat, Dungeon Hunter, Gangstar and Asphalt franchises, Gameloft Montreal is currently seeking a Game Director to collaborate on its next generation of iPhone, iPad and Android games.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced game director to create the vision for a project, communicate it clearly with everyone involved, manage the project’s game design team, and work in collaboration with the producer to lead a production team. The main responsibilities will be to create the universe, game systems, social mechanics and monetization of our next free-to-play AAA game.

·         Create and maintain the vision of the game throughout the project

·         Share this vision clearly with the entire production team and inspire them

·         Present high-level documents to management

·         Manage a team of game and level designers and review their work on a daily basis

·         Conceptualize and develop the game and design documents in detail

·         Develop social mechanics and game modes to improve player involvement and retention

·         Develop game systems under a free-to-play model

·         Analyze metrics and suggest game adjustments accordingly

·         Maintain a high level of communication and monitoring with various departments


Skills 

·         Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a game designer

·         Excellent knowledge of the iOS/Android game market

·         Experience with free-to-play games an asset

·         At least two titles published on consoles or several games on iPhone or portable consoles

·         Degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Multimedia, Graphics, Video Games or equivalent

·         Bilingual in English/French (an asset)

·         Experience with prototyping tools an asset (Flash, Unity, Virtools, GameMaker, etc.)

·         Good experience with multimedia software (Office, Adobe, Macromedia)

·         Proven leadership skills

·         Excellent communication skills, spoken and written

·         Passionate about video games and their history

·         Good understanding of all the phases and jobs in the video game industry

·         Able to work under pressure and open to working overtime on occasion

·         Open-minded and likes to work in teams

·         Imaginative!
