Graphics Power Architect

Description

The Graphics Architecture Team of the Visual & Parallel Computing Group (VPG) is responsible for the architectural definition and evolution of Processor Graphics engines for the Intel product line that spans phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, and server products. The Measurement and Projection (MAP) team within the Graphics Architecture organization is responsible for Power and Performance analyses that span Intel's entire multi-year graphics product roadmap. The power and performance data is used to evaluate interactions between the Processor, Graphics, and the rest of the System on a Chip (SOC) which is then used to optimize and select a direction for future products. If you have an interest in graphics, we need a broad range of skills that encompass graphics architecture; data analytics; program management; and software tools development in order to efficiently deliver graphics power and performance analyses. 

Currently we have an immediate need for enhancing our power and performance data analysis capabilities with the development of scripts, databases, and tools in order to integrate data from multiple sources into a powerful automated architectural analysis system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power and performance data analysis, program management, and development of databases and/or scripts for data automation, analysis, and visualization. 

Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 
-Analyze the distribution of Frequency, Voltage, Bandwidth, Power, and Performance within the System on Chip (SOC) across a broad range of graphics applications to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for power and performance optimizations. 
-Coordinate the validation and release of graphics power and performance data across a variety of Intel teams, including: Product, Design, Graphics Architecture, and Manufacturing. 
-Assist in the definition, development, and deployment of a new automated architectural analysis system by developing scripts, tools, databases, and data visualization capabilities in order to integrate multiple architectural tools and deliver a doubling of analysis and decision making efficiency. 
Ensures platform and its components have the best performance and power balance specifically focusing on graphics hardware components. Research and development of next generation platform designs to continually improve the performance. Conducts system analysis on proprietary and competition platforms, develops advanced hardware tuning and overclocking.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
-Candidate must have a Bachelors degree with 6+ years of experience or a  M with 4+ years of experience in a related engineering field or additional experience. 
-Degree should be in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
-Experience should be in the following areas: Computer and/or Graphics Architecture; Design and/or Validation; Scripting and/or Database development. 
-Strong data analysis, debugging and problem solving skills. 
-Software and Scripting skills (Windows/Unix, C/C++/Perl/Python/Ruby, Java, Microsoft SQL/MySQL). 
-Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). 

Preferred Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will have knowledge &/or experience in some of the following: 
-Power/Performance Analysis: Modeling, estimation, analysis. 
-How power consumption of silicon devices is impacted by operating systems, applications, platform, 
product architecture, product implementation, and process technology. 
-Strong Programming Skills: Scripting languages Databases, and web development. 
-Program Management: Proven ability to manage and negotiate projects across multiple corporate teams. 
-3D, GPGPU/OCL, and/or media graphics architectures. CPU architectures.
