Technical Artist (VFX/Lighting/Rendering)

Gameloft, the largest mobile-gaming development studio in Montreal, is seeking a Technical Artist (VFX/Lighting/Rendering) to join its Video department.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of the Cinematics team, the successful candidate will take part in producing trailers for Gameloft’s latest creations. The candidate will be responsible for the quality of the shaders and lighting in the 3D scenes, creating the atmosphere and look desired by the art director, and will be also responsible for creating high-resolution special effects elements and simulations.

  • Complete lighting and rendering tasks in V-Ray
  • Optimize, improve and develop textures and shaders for high-resolution productions in V-Ray
  • Manage rendering tasks and send them to the rendering bank
  • Produce 3D special effects (hair, fabric, particles, physical simulations)
  • Optimize scenes to prepare for submission
  • Rigging/Skinning
  • Help produce 3D elements

Skills and Profile

  • Proficient in 3ds Max 2012 / V-Ray
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in lighting and shade production
  • In-depth knowledge of the 3D creation field
  • Excellent artistic sense
  • Able to work within tight deadlines
  • Open to criticism while also possessing an excellent ability to communicate ideas
  • Able to teach and share methods with other team members
  • Knowledge of 3D production pipelines
  • Knowledge of other simulation or effects software/plug-ins (RealFlow, AfterBurn, FumeFX, PhysX, etc.)
  • Experience with MAXScript programming
  • Experience with After Effects an asset
  • Able to work as part of a team
