BioLucid, a developer of immersive 3D software, mobile games/sims and a revolutionary medical visualization product, is seeking a highly experienced, motivated, and knowledgeable CG Artist to work under the direction of our Art Director to help lead our development team in their artistic and tech-art efforts in our Sarasota, FL studio.

Animator/ FX Artist Job Purpose:

Under the direction of the Art Director, the Animator/ FX Technical Artist will deliver compelling and amazing animation and visual effects for projects utilizing the Unity engine. The artist helps manage, research and evolves the studio art pipeline.

 

Responsibilities:

The Animator/ FX Artist will:

  1. Generate compelling animation and optimized effects for PC and mobile platforms for the Unity 3D engine.

  2. Work closely with designers, engineers, artists and leads to create great moments through AAA quality animation and VFX.

  3. Model, texture, light, rig and weight for animation when needed.

  4. Work closely with engineers and leads to establish and troubleshoot art pipelines as needed.

  5. Have a meticulous, organized approach to creating technically efficient and visually compelling animation and VFX assets.

  6. Use visual editing tools to create, place and trigger effects.

  7. Conceptualize and animate stylized particle effects for human anatomy down to a molecular level when needed.

  8. Report to Art Director and team on overall project progress at weekly art reviews and meetings

  9. Demonstrate reliability, professionalism and dedication.

  10. Help maintain a positive, happy work environment for everyone in the studio.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred; will consider equivalent experience

  2. 3+ year’s minimum experience in either, the game, simulation or educational industry, with at least one product shipped as animator or VFX artist on either console or mobile platforms.

  3. Experienced with Unity3D, Photoshop, Maya, Zbrush, 3D Studio Max and editing software (Ex; Nuke, Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premier).

  4. Strong Knowledge of Unity3D ( 2+ plus years minimum)

  5. Expert in creating high- quality animation and particle effects along with textures.

  6. A portfolio showcasing high quality animation and effects with examples of high resolution effect textures.

  7. The ability to view visual reference of an effect, deconstruct it and subsequently re – create it in a real time game engine is essential.

  8. Strong knowledge of lighting and dynamics.

  9. Strong knowledge of Animation is essential.

  10. High proficiency in technical problem solving.

  11. Experience working within a studio pipeline.

  12. Effective communication skills.

  13. Must be strong team player; with proven ability to compromise when necessary to achieve overall best results

  14. Must be a creative self-starter, who is self-managed, highly motivated, and detail oriented

  15. Must be flexible and have the ability to work under tight deadlines

  16. Artistic sensibility, technical skill, problem solving, takes direction and critique well, attention to detail, deadline-oriented, creativity, flexibility, ability to work on multiple projects and different stages and shift priorities as needed.

  17. Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)

  18. Experience in writing scripts/plugins in MEL, (C# or JAavaScript) Python a plus.

  19. Experience in creating real time shaders, tools and post effects for Unity a plus.

  20. Substance Designer experience a plus.

  21. Interest in science, biology, anatomy, and a desire to help others understand it, is a must.
