Media Systems Engineer

The Media Systems Engineer will assure smooth operation and accuracy of all Media Systems and Infrastructure including designing, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting, implementing new technologies, fulfilling special requests and researching future needs.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with production staff to meet production standards and implement a solution to ensure efficient productivity
  • Maintaining screening rooms with 2D/3D DLPc projection, multi-channel audio, color critical monitoring, graphics workstations, laptop inputs, uncompressed Digital Disk Recorders (DDRs), and Digital Cinema (DCP) players
  • Assuring color workflow based on industry standards - product creation at desk, review of material in screening rooms, work-in-progress deliveries, screenings and final delivery of content.  Includes color calibration of all appropriate monitors and projectors
  • Install and document media productions systems, tools and software to support animation production and digital reviews including signal flow and digital format infrastructure
  • Designing, implementing and supporting all Video Conference systems
  • Technical support and maintenance for digital review workstations, projection systems, video conference rooms
  • Researching industry standards, future trends and collaborating with other Paramount business units for pre-production, production, review and delivery and archival of feature film products
  • Work closely with staff to ensure seamless delivery of media presentation and video conferencing session
  • Instruct production staff on proper operation and procedures of media systems, digital review rooms and video conferencing rooms
  • Provide general desktop support on an as-needed basis.

Desired Skills
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience with audio and video systems and operations (e.g., signal routing, monitor calibration, digital file formats, video editing, DVD authoring, digital video camera and high resolution still camera operation)
  • Experience with remote collaboration and animation production tools and software (Shotgun, Flix, Cinesync Pro, TVIPS)
  • Familiarity with professional production equipment such as HDCAM/DVCAM record decks, Audio and Video switchers, DCI projectors, disk-based playback systems, PA Systems, audio processors, digital audio mixers, signal routers, etc.
  • Familiarity with high-end Video-Teleconferencing equipment such as Tandberg, Polycom and Haivision
  • Advanced Mac OS and Windows skills, Intermediate Linux OS skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred
