The Art Group
at USC's Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) seeks a freelance UX
Designer with a solid background in designing interactive, real-time 3D
applications. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of industry experience with
(serious) game development, an affinity with GUI design and a strong visual aesthetic.
The

JOB DESCRIPTION AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The freelance UX
Designer’s primary responsibility is to translate project visions into
actionable designs, taking into account all the stakeholder’s goals,
requirements and constraints. In particular:

Define
the design and functional goals that support the project vision
·
Create
concept art in support of the project goals
·
Translate
high level goals into actionable items
·
Create
mock-ups and/or UI wire-frames
·
Create
look-and-feel concepts for GUI and help provide artistic direction
·
Interface
with other developers (programmers, artists, etc.) to gather input and provide
a cohesive overview of the project
·
Work
closely with project members to plan out project specific timelines
·
Work
closely with project members to solve various design, pipeline, and/or implementation
issues
·
Maintain
or exceed a consistent level of productivity
·
Consistently
produce high quality work and meet deadlines
REQUIREMENTS:
·
Bachelor’s
degree in Game Design, Computer Science or equivalent with a strong background
in art.
·
5+
years’ experience in (serious) game or interactive media development
·
Ability
to interface with a variety of different stakeholders, from clients and project
leaders to programmers and artists
·
Expertise
with real-time rendering solutions like Unity
·
Strong
knowledge of Photoshop, and mock-up software
·
Desire
to collaborate in a research environment
·
Ability
to quickly assimilate new information
·
Attention
to detail and good communication skills
·
Ability
to work with minimum of supervision
ICT is
located in the new creative business campus in Playa Vista. Employees are
