About the Position

DHX Media's Interactive division is looking for a software development engineer in test (SDET) to help us improve our popular mobile and web games. The ideal candidate understands the importance of quality assurance and will work diligently to ensure that QA processes and standards are upheld during all phases of game development. As an SDET, you will be instrumental in developing tests alongside the game programmers. You will be responsible for QA plans and QA processes for all our products. You will help direct the QA staff to ensure that the plans are followed, and you will report to project managers to ensure that defects are properly logged and tracked. We want you to help us deliver the best experience possible for our players!

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain unit tests, test plans, and test suites
  • Build automated tests
  • Assist in directing QA staff in the execution of test plans
  • Coordinate build delivery, provisioning, and build archives
  • Report product defects to project managers and leads
  • Help prioritize and escalate defects that need immediate attention
  • Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Passionate and knowledgeable about the games industry
  • 1+ years of experience in software engineering
  • Experience working with test automation and automation tools
  • Able to work independently but also collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to take direction well and execute on a project with limited supervision
  • Able to communicate in a professional and positive manner
  • Able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
  • Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
  • Encourage feedback and new initiatives
  • Must be open to direction and able to embrace change

Not essential, but would be great assets

  • Experience with iOS or Android platforms
  • Experience with Unity3D
  • Experience with scrum or agile principles in game development
