OS Environment Artist

VASG Art Department is looking for a variety of Environment Artists to work on Sony’s AAA titles. The Environment Artist Candidates will be working with the Visual Arts Services Group to create both in-game and pre-rendered quality environments within a various range of styles.   VASG is interested in enthusiastic candidates who have had previous experience working with and understands the benefit of collaborating with outsourcing partners to output high volume, high quality assets for AAA titles.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Environment Supervisor and client studio to establish the visual quality, best practices and technical specifications for the project.   
  • Create and maintain asset requirement documents, pipeline workflows and technical specifications as the project cycle evolves. 
  • Candidates will need to possess the ability to teach and learn new techniques, best practices, and communicate technical requirements to OS vendors and internal teams to ensure the project is well organized and stable.
  • Provide daily reviews and concise feedback to maintain external vendor's art quality and ensure delivered assets are meeting VASG/Client Studio’s required specifications.
  • Evaluate effort estimations to ensure man days are in-line with current project schedules.    
  • Create and/or modify existing assets as necessary, may be required to create both hard surface and soft bodied assets from scratch.  
  • Responsible to prepare all final deliveries per client aesthetic and technical specifications.
  • Report to any existing or potential issues to internal Supervisor and Project Manager in a timely manner.

 

Requirements:

  • An advanced understanding of in-game art asset creation including hardsurface props, soft rigid assets such as clothing items, vehicle, weapons, etc…
  • An advanced understanding of Maya.
  • An advanced understanding of ZBrush or Mudbox.
  • Experience with World Machine (or equivalent) is a big plus.
  • Experience with Marvelous Designer is a big plus.
  • Experience with Substance Designer is a big plus.
  • Experience working with external outsource vendors is a big plus.
  • Experience working on previous cinematic projects is a plus.
  • Experience working with a game engine and engine tools is a plus.
