Location: Fremont, CA

This is your opportunity to join a fast-paced; action oriented combined Creative and Digital Media team. You will work alongside engineers and designers in our team to create premiere mobile apps, web apps, games, interfaces, and visualization tools for major sports leagues, including MLB, NCAA Football, and NASCAR. This is a small team (~12) of energized individuals who recently shipped the top grossing sports app in the app store in Feb 2014 and 2015 (NASCAR RaceView). 

Bringing experience in mobile, device, and game design, your role will be to create the user interface designs from concept to execution (including asset and production design) for our existing and future digital applications. Examples could include introducing new micro-transaction/virtual store-front experiences to our RaceView application or envisioning and designing a new gesture-based Hit the Pitch game for XBOX. 

You will work alongside a small group of designers who are responsible for broadcast effects, 3d experiences, and product design. All of our designers wear multiple hats and cross-train and help each other, so expect to learn and pitch in across mediums! 

Skills

  • Mobile and device design (console, tv, tablets, phones, etc.).
    • Must have shipped at least one consumer application on a mobile device, and at least one cross-platform product.
    • Experience creating game UI such as leaderboards, stats and abilities, purchasing, droppable items, animated elements, status updates.
    • Experience creating flows and interaction models (specifications for how the user moves through the experience; how each interaction affects the interface). 
    • Versed with the modern techniques for mobile UI design optimization, such as 9-slicing, and texture atlasing. 
  • Visuals and graphics designo Demonstrated talent in visuals design and attending to visual detail – outstanding use of color, typography, and other visual elements.
    • Experience and talent creating elegant and effective layouts and visuals (including element animation/motion for various screen affects).
    • Experience with production design and asset creation (at Sportvision this includes things like weekly car asset textures and cutting up assets from the networks for the weekend broadcast).
  • Experience executing designs, working with development to implement (including following up on design bugs and interfacing regularly with engineers).
  • Experience participating in envisioning stages of projects … brainstorming, design sketches, and explorations, mood-boards, and concept design.
  • Clear and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing. 
  • Excellent team player, collaborating within and across groups on projects.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years’ experience in design-related field.
  • Bachelors in Fine Arts, interaction design, industrial design, motion graphics, multimedia design, 3d design, or other design related discipline required.
  • Online portfolio required prior to interview. Portfolio should include samples of work from all stages of various projects.  Must show examples of iOS and Android applications and shipped titles. 
  • High level of proficiency with designer’s tools such as, but not limited to Adobe Production Suite (expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator required; Flash, Premiere, and After Effects desired).
  • Experience with UI design in games engines such as Unity, Unreal, Scaleform, etc. desired.
  • Passion for sports. While this position does not require experience designing for sports, a passion for sports and learning about sports is required.
