Motion Capture Technical Manager

Description

Motion Capture Technical Manager

Who We Are:
We are a hard-working, service-oriented Motion Capture team that is proud to be the backbone of modern gaming. Every year we welcome the never-ending challenge of keeping up with the demands of the best titles on the market. We pride ourselves on being both the most efficient and most creative mocap team in the business, while producing an unmatched volume of quality content and finding solutions to every production challenge. No other motion capture team has set up an ice rink on the Las Vegas strip, gone door-to-door to capture dozens of NBA athletes, and rebuilt their stage to accommodate a major motion picture director. We capture and record more content in a month than most stages do in a year. We take all ideas and boil them down to produce an aggressively automated pipeline.

What We Need:
The right person for this role will lead development of bleeding edge technology to execute our mantra to improve both quality and efficiency. We need someone who can develop tools that continue to grow the volume of content as well as tackle the new challenges of modern gaming. Capturing facial data, reference video, dialogue, and remote sessions are known constants. The ideal person is ready to take on what’s down the road, learning new tech and processes, willing to rebuild as needed to meet the demands of next year’s titles. This position will report directly to the motion capture supervisor and will work closely with the Stage, Post Production, and Media managers to provide technical support, tools, and R&D.

Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
Gaming is an ever-changing industry, with development teams coming up with new ideas every year. As a service-oriented team, we’re obligated to find ways to make those ideas reality. This requires both a deep understanding of core technology and a broad scope able to spot outside opportunities. Because we provide a service, we want someone who can communicate well and work well with others, who sees production challenges as exciting rather than frustrating. Gaming is a high-volume industry, demanding hundreds of hours of media per title, so we’re looking for someone who knows when to offload production onto machines and leave only the most important work to the team.

Requirements:
•    Technical degree preferred (Computer Science, Engineering)
•    5+ years’ experience with optical motion capture equipment
•    5+ years’ experience with HSL/Python scripting building capture and post-processing pipelines
•    Experience with Timecode and syncing all types of media
•    Experience with tools and pipeline development using MotionBuilder, Maya, and other 3D packages
•    Excellent communication skills
•    Tech-savvy: must understand latest technology and its practical implementation into the pipeline
