Starting with our first game, Blood through to our most recent title, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor which has been awarded with numerous Game of the Year Awards, including Gamespot, Joystiq and IGN as well as Best Action/Adventure Game at the 2014 Game Awards.

Monolith Productions seeks a Contract Senior Video Editor to be responsible for creating high quality AAA video content and other marketing materials for high profile game title(s). The Senior Video Editor must have a keen photographic eye useful for in-game capture and shooting live footage. They should be well versed in the fundamentals of good storytelling with strong editing skills and an understanding of industry trends. The Senior Video Editor has a strong sense for organization and problem solving, a passion for games, and the ability to work from direction. This is an individual contributor position and requires a full understanding of lighting, value structure, composition, contrapposto/character weighting and posing, basic animation principles and all aesthetic sensibilities required in creating industry competitive marketing visuals. In addition, candidate should have a strong understanding of current and next gen game pipelines and associated technology and software. A portfolio/demo reel demonstrating an ability to create high quality in game visuals and/or marketing materials is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with Director of Art and studio leadership to create, compose and capture shots/sequences from the game that, when edited, present a compelling narrative.
- Communicate and problem solve with studio leadership, discipline leads and other members of the art team where applicable towards the creation of AAA high quality video content.
- Work with and suggest improvements to existing video capture tools and pipeline.
- Work with others in the studio to coordinate and direct group capture sessions.
- Devise shot lists, storyboards, or animatics, based on needs of each video.
JOB REQUIREMENTS- BA in art or related field or equivalent experience.
- At least 5+ years experience in games, broadcast or related fields.
- Next Gen console tools/pipeline experience a plus.
- 3-5 years of video editing experience utilizing the latest software: Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, and Final Cut Pro etc.
- A core understanding of basic lighting, animation/rigging, shader/material, vfx principals, and the fundamentals of digital application.
- Strong understanding of cinematography and editing principles with an ability to tell a cohesive story through edited sequences.
- Strong background in traditional/fundamental art principles including: excellent color theory, composition, lighting, and realistic character posing/anatomy skills.
- Wide understanding of lighting/rendering technologies.
- Familiar with 3DSMax (or a leading 3D modeling package) and Photoshop with the capacity to learn new tools, and artistic method.
- Shows an able understanding of fundamental technical topics, and is capable of implementing them into their workflow to execute assignments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
- Portfolio/website/reel demonstrating your skills.
