Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Game Design

The Armstrong Institute for Interactive Media at Miami University invites applications for the Armstrong endowed position as a full-time, tenure-track or lecturer faculty position on the Oxford campus. The new faculty member in Game Design will be working with other game faculty within AIMS and across Miami University that comprise the AIMS Game Center (http://aimsgamecenter.com).  

Miami University’s digital game studies program has been ranked No. 12 among public universities and colleges in the United States by Animation Career Review (ACR) and in the top 30 in the U.S. by the Princeton Review.

The new faculty member in Game Design will:  teach courses in game design, game scripting and the overall game development process, including online instruction; develop curricula; work with students on games and undergraduate/graduate thesis work in game design, development, and studies; provide service to the university to include taking on the leadership role in the game program and leading co-curricular activities.  Additionally, an Assistant Professor will maintain an active research program. 

Required:  Master's Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with extensive industry experience (for appointment as a Lecturer); terminal degree of MFA or PhD (for appointment as Assistant Professor).  

Strong candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Unity3D development, Unreal Engine 4 development, extensive game industry experience, game art, indie game development, applied game development, team development practices and tools (agile/scrum and/or kanban), narrative design, level design, systems design, world building, and/or coding skills (Unity C#, Unreal C++/Blueprint, and similar).
