General
Summary
The
Data Wrangler oversees and guarantees the integrity and safety of the data from
the stage to all end users. Our ideal candidate will be highly organized and have the ability to
monitor and control the rendering process and manage the render farm but primarily
fulfill and supervise the movement and reviewing of Production imagery. If you
have attention to detail, have the ability to track and document all data
coming into and leaving the office and can excel in working with a broad range
of personalities then consider yourself for this position. We require a highly
organized, self-motivated person to help control the flow of information.
Essential
Job Functions
-
Manage the rendering of all shots in
a production.
- Manage
shot file structure.
- Identify,
report, and find solutions to rendering errors.
- Will
be a focal point for Production personnel to facilitate reviews in the theater.
- Provide
render technical support and liaise with IT Support department staff.
- Provide
and receive shots to and from VFX when required.
- Renaming
files to conform to company standards.
- Provide
a second point of contact for Production and Editorial with regards to
daily shot tracking and delivery.
- Provide
a second outlet for demands from all departments for access to any
information that comes from the stage in any formats they may require.
- To
work with Editorial to allow viewing of the cut in 3D.
- Act
as projectionist for daily screenings and maintain the screening area and
its calendar.
- Maintains
an excellent understanding of the tools and software used in the
post-production of VFX.
- Monitor
and manage disk space on servers.
Qualifications
- Knowledge
and experience in data wrangling and the importance of data integrity and
naming conventions.
- Excels
as a team player and strives to maximize team/department performance.
- High
degree of computer literacy.
- Ability
to learn new software quickly, and learn on the job, if necessary.
- Ability
to analyze and problem solve.
- Capacity
to take responsibility and ability to manage and prioritize their time and workload.
- Ability
to record information accurately and produce reports.
- Respect
for the procedures and requirements of a particular studio, production or
pipeline.
- Must
be experienced with FTP, SFTP. Basic understanding of Aspera, a plus.
- Must
be familiar with VNC and Remote Desktop services.
- Experience in scripting is
desirable but not essential.
- Film/stage
experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in
Animation, Film, or Fine Arts or other relevant area of study and/or equivalent
job experience.
