About the Position

It’s a very exciting time to join the DHX Studios team as our Senior Software Engineer! We’re moving our pipeline to Maya as well as integrating Shotgun and Nuke so this is a great opportunity to be involved with the creation and development of the next generation of our productions! You will work across a diverse range of areas such as writing plugins, extending open source libraries, working with Renderman and VRay renderers and more! You will prototype new ideas, troubleshoot existing systems, and play a key role in leveraging our technology for creative endeavors.

Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype and create tools, plugins and processes to help production needs.
  • Debug and support our tools and software infrastructure.
  • Extend open source libraries and 3rd party libraries, plugins and soft wares.
  • Design and develop new tools to fit and improve our pipeline
  • Test and debug tools and process to ensure stability and usability
  • Work with software engineers and IT to debug and test hardware and software
  • Communicate changes to our pipeline tools and processes with internal stakeholders
  • Create and update documentation explaining our processes and tools
  • Mentor and advise other TD and developers in the team.
  • Collaborate with other TDs to form a highly productive team

Qualifications

  • Strong software development skills in C++ and Python is required.
  • 3+ years of experience developing for Maya and/or Nuke or Houdini is required.
  • Experience with open source libraries such as QT, Alembic, OCIO is a plus.
  • Experience writing for Renderman and/or VRay render engines is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Experience in designing and building database systems is a plus.
