Project Audio Director - Overwatch
Description
Project audio director is the vision holder and leads the audio function on a game team, has outstanding communication skills, strong leadership experience, and a proven track record of shipping AAA products in an audio director role. The project audio director will have expertise in audio design and production, with proficiency in sound design, music composition, and voice production and implementation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engagement with top level game team leadership in the overall shaping of the game, with focus on how sound is a factor but also with engagement in all other aspects of the game.
- Understanding the details of the game structure, mechanics, compulsion loops and overall player experience goals.
- Direct people management of the sound designers on the game team, leading by example and providing both motivation and inspiration to the team members.
- Own, articulate and evangelize the creative direction of sound design development.
- Engagement with centralized audio team as the key customer for music, voice over and cinematic sound. Assumes the involvement in these sub-disciplines as a customer rather than as a director.
- Work with the audio team and across disciplines to clearly define goals and articulate those goals on a studio-wide level. This includes engagement with public relations, marketing and other internal departments where appropriate.
- Foster and maintain effective relationships inside and outside the audio team.
REQUIREMENTS- A minimum of 10 years’ working on audio for AAA titles
- A minimum of 5 years as a leader in the field of audio for video games
- Able to form and clearly articulate a vision for sound in a game and the ways in which sound will support and enhance the design intent of the game
- Very strong background in and knowledge of sound design for games
- Strong understanding of music. Able to understand high level music vision, assess effectiveness of music in context, be the customer for music dealing directly with composers
- Strong understanding of voice over processes as well as aesthetics. Able to be the customer for voice over dealing directly with the voice over director
- Strong understanding of games as well as sound in games, eager to spend substantial time playing, and able to assess effectiveness of sound in conjunction with all other elements of the game
- Strong leadership

- Creatively confident but also collaborative in nature
