ILMxLAB Producer

Description

Partners with the Executive Creative Producer for xLAB to fulfill the creative vision for xLAB projects (i.e. VR, AR, Interactive Storytelling, etc.) -- on time and on budget, while maintaining the highest quality of work. 



  • Simultaneously manage one or more xLAB projects from award through delivery 
  • Manage team (“Proto Pod”) responsible for rapid prototyping – implementing priorities for innovative proofs on aggressive timelines
  • In collaboration with Executive Creative Producer, xLAB, support development of pitches to help land New Media projects
  • Communicate frequently with key stakeholders on the status of projects
  • Partner with Experience Director(s) to develop the approach for creating the experience and provide estimates of budget & schedule requirements needed to complete the work.
  • Prepare bid letter, key dates schedule, and assumptions for each project. In collaboration with the Executive Creative Producer, help implement the new business model that incorporates sharing in financial upside in the event of monetization
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with third parties as needed (i.e. app developers, etc.)
  • During production, serve as principal client contact for non-creative issues, tracking and reporting progress of work, budgeting and negotiating cost of work, and delivering cost/schedule changes to ensure parties are updated as needed.
  • Create, organize, and maintain overall project schedule(s). 
  • Manage crew performance. Supervise assigned production staff. 
  • Estimate project budgets and initiate cost controls for each production. 
  • Evaluate EFC and work with production accountants to provide management with early, consistent, and accurate EFC reporting.
  • Participate and oversee work on-set as required.
  • Act as primary point of contact for: 1) ILM Production Managers with regard to xLAB crewing discussions; 2) PR with regard to promotional opportunities for xLAB

Additional Notes:

  • The role will likely require weekend work depending on show schedules

The role may also require: 

  • 1) Travel for client meetings and/or plate shoot 
  • 2) Work on the same schedule as first or second unit production
Requirements:
  • Five years work experience in production management, ideally with experience in VFX, commercial production, games development, and/or new media platforms 
  • Bachelor's degree in Film or related field or equivalent work experience required. 
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple projects in various stages of production on aggressive timelines
  • Proven experience organizing successful shoots – ideally both mocap and live action
  • Technical knowledge and expertise necessary
  • Commercial and/or agency production experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Macs/PCs including Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Must possess very strong organizational and communication skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
