About the Position

DHX Studios - Vancouver is hiring Scene Prep Artists for a new animated feature film – an epic, character-driven fantasy that will be animated in Toon Boom! It has comedy, action, and a huge existing fan base.  As a Scene Prep Artist, you will be responsible for the first step in organizing scenes and including all assets necessary for each scene to move forward into production.

Responsibilities

• Set up Harmony scene templates, and adjust the necessary settings to identify each individual scene by number, length, render settings and other identifying qualities
• Import assets to the scene such as characters, BG layers and props
• Confirm that all elements required in the scene are present and accounted for
• Make any necessary adjustments to scene elements to prepare them for key animation
• Organize and maintain the structure of the scene network
• Work collaboratively with a team to ensure all production requirements are met
• Take notes and keep track of progress and status to report to the production teams

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school
• Experience in Toon Boom Harmony and Photoshop is a must
• Experience in Maya is a bonus
• Must be detail oriented, with a high level of focus
• Strong sense of composition and design sensibilities
• Understanding of 2D animation processes
• Ability to organize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
• Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
• Strong interpersonal skills and the desire to work as part of a team
• Killer instincts and a great sense of humor!
