About the Position

DHX Studios Vancouver is looking for a Production Coordinator to manage a team of in-house Key Animation/Layout Artists for one of our animated series, ensuring that the department stays on schedule and that all elements are available and ready for the artists. We are looking for an adaptable team player who is incredibly organized, highly communicative, and excited about joining a talented group of industry professionals working to create some of the best quality animated content in the business! 

Responsibilities

  • Keep open lines of communication with the crew, supervisors, Production Manager and coordinators in other departments
  • Work directly under the supervision of the Production Manager to coordinate the Layout team
  • Track the Layout department’s scenes through to completion and ensure deadlines are met
  • Monitor the team’s progress and work with supervisors to reassign scenes as needed to meet deadlines
  • Break down storyboards, ensuring all assets are ready and available for the team
  • Liaise with other departments to resolve any issues that may arise (e.g. missing builds/assets or scenes)
  • Ensure shipments of scenes to animation department are sent on schedule with all assets required
  • Effectively communicate priorities, issues, and pertinent production info to crew
  • Assist the crew in troubleshooting technical issues and liaise with I.T. to communicate problems
  • Update daily reports to reflect progress and/or flag concerns
  • Distribute and collect time sheets
  • Track crew absences/sick days and inform Production Manager & Human Resources

Qualifications

  • Previous experience coordinating in production/animation
  • Ability to excel in a high pressure, deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with a strong ability to create and interpret reports
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to organize and motivate a talented and diverse crew
  • Animation experience, particularly in Flash, is an asset
