About the Position

DHX Studios – Vancouver is looking for Feature Compositing Artists for our upcoming 2D Feature Film! As a Comp artist, you will be responsible for constructing the final image by combining layers of FX, animation and background elements into a final composite shot as per each shot’s requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Create and composite digital FX, highlights and tones within the current compositing pipeline
  • Collaborate with AFX artists and supervisors to achieve consistent and high quality results
  • Manage renders and set up shots technically
  • Integrate all layers including animation, environment, lighting and AFX-related materials to create the final shots
  • Work with 3D renders and combine seamlessly into 2D scenes
  • Ensure and maintain the expected quality, style and schedule across the production
  • Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with leads and supervisors
  • Collaborate with other team members to improve methods, workflows and techniques
  • Analyze and troubleshoot common technical issues
  • Identify and report any issues that arise that may affect timelines or delivery schedules

Qualifications 

  • 1-3 years of experience in the animation or film industry
  • Previous experience in lighting and/or compositing in episodic TV or feature film animation
  • Proficiency in Harmony is preferred
  • Experience in Adobe After Effects and Photoshop is an asset
  • Solid understanding of compositing, lighting, shading, colour and rendering
  • Strong sense of design and shot composition
  • Must be efficient, proactive and detail oriented
  • Ability to take direction, be flexible and embrace change
  • Ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a professional and positive manner
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
