Creature TD/Rigger

The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking
for a Creature TD/Rigger to join our team in San Francisco
ADG develops tools and techniques for high-fidelity computer graphics and
simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance creative storytelling in the Star
Wars universe through real-time rendering of film-quality imagery. Our work can
also be seen powering many of the ILMxLAB immersive experiences.
Job Description:
Responsible for rigging, skinning and optimizing creatures,
vehicles and props intended for use in real-time game engines, V.R., A.R., and
virtual film productions. This position will also implement helper tools and
intuitive interfaces specifically targeted to improve the workflow and
efficiency for rigging and animation tasks. Reports directly to the ADG CG
Technology Supervisor and will collaborate with multiple artist and engineering
teams within Lucasfilm.
Responsibilities:
- Creature, Vehicle and Prop Rigging
- Automate redundant rigging and animation tasks
- Script procedural rigs
- Assist with setting up A.I. for game engines
- Troubleshoot asset conversions between Maya and real-time game engines
- Set up rigs to receive body and facial motion capture
- Assist with demos
- Stay abreast of latest Maya and real-time game engine rigging techniques
and tools
- Profile rigs in Maya
and game engines to determine performance bottlenecks
Required
Skills/Experience:
- 2+ years experience rigging for real-time game engines
- 2+ years experience rigging in Maya
- Positive attitude and team player
- Good communication skills
- Strong knowledge of Python & PyQT
- Familiarity with setting up A.I. for game engines a
plus
- Experience setting up cloth and rigid simulations a
plus
- Strong math background a plus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in Computer
Science, Computer Visualization, or Computer Animation a plus
- Experience with Unreal 4 a plus
