Associate Lead QA Tester - PC Compatibility

ASSOCIATE LEAD QA TESTER - PC COMPATIBILITY

Summary:

Assists in leading a team in executing test plans on pre-release video games by verifying performance, usability / playability and compatibility. Must have an extraordinary attention to detail, be successful at Pod Leading and have a proven commitment to quality. Reports to a QA Lead, Senior QA Lead or QA Manager.

Implement and execute testing processes to ensure that titles are performing at acceptable levels on a range of PC hardware and operating systems. Identify bugs, document defects, and work with engineering to recreate bugs and fix them. Plan effective compatibility strategies: Create matrices of hardware and software components to successfully gauge compatibility of products with hardware on the market.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build configurations for testing: Put together PC components and install necessary software to create test environments
  • Execute agreed-upon test cases to successfully gauge compatibility of products with hardware on the market
  • Build and maintain test and workflow tools: Where possible, create tools to facilitate testing and / or the generation of reports on test results in a timely manner and help with the analysis of results
  • Provide reports on testing status: Provide daily, weekly and test pass completion reports as requested
  • Alert relevant parties when major issues are identified: Understand who relevant parties are for various types of issues and make sure those parties in addition to leads and production are made aware of new major issues
  • Provide feedback on hardware components in-stock
  • Ability to launch daily builds / Basic build issue trouble shooting
  • Support and perform tests on 2D and 3D games repeatedly, while listening and looking for bugs
  • Provide coaching, training, and overall guidance to QA Testers and Senior QA Testers
  • Create and develop test scripts based on business requirements and processes, aligned with defined workflows and use cases
  • Assist in developing, designing and ensuring the overall integrity of the testing strategy including disaster recovery and business continuity testing
  • Help design, develop and implement test plans including regression testing, scripts and tools utilizing documented business requirements and functional specifications
  • Coordinate adequate levels of testing documentation with the appropriate technical groups and/or pods by working with Lead / Manager to identify appropriate data for testing and prepare that data for the test cases
  • Assess and potentially revise testing strategies and cases based on project scope changes
  • Work with appropriate Leads to determine the acceptable range for test results and overall performance
  • Reconcile test results from different tests and different pods

  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office Excel, Word and Outlook skills
  • Advanced database skills; to include TTP and Jira

  • Consistently provides a positive role-model to testers, in terms of work performance, attitude and attendance

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18 years and above
  • 3+ years of QA testing experience
  • Experience in PC compatibility testing
  • Experience handling competing asks from different teams in a service model environment
  • Knowledge of PC hardware market
  • Experience building PCs
  • Must be able to work independently given direction on a weekly basis
  • Must be very detail orientated in both process and delivering results
  • Must be able to identify errors in the product and determine the proper source of the error to be able to accurately assign the issue to be fixed
  • Must be able to quickly and easily articulate issues and what needs to be done to resolve them
  • Must be familiar with all current versions of Windows including Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, and Windows Vista
  • Working knowledge of Mac OS X and Linux
  • Comprehensive understanding of test cycles and processes
  • Reliable, and can be counted on to work all scheduled shifts
  • Capable of working any mandatory overtime; which can occur during the work week, weekends, and occasional holidays
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally, and sit for prolonged periods of time
