Lead Build Engineer/Manager - Frankfurt

Foundry 42 in Frankfurt, Germany is looking for an experienced Lead Build Engineer to join our team.

The lead build engineer will need to excel at automating inefficient processes, always striving to optimize, explore, and try new solutions. Enjoy working in a fast-paced agile environment as a part of a small and highly visible tight-knit team. Evangelize and advocate best practices both within the team and throughout the company. This includes giving presentations, participating in working groups, proactively engaging teams with informal chats, plus mentoring and training.

The ideal candidate will have equal parts of technical and production skills.

Responsibilities include

  • Coordinating the build release team with build release activities.
  • Manage other Engineers and encourage their continued growth
  • Provide Code Reviews for the Core Tech team and provide engineering support to all team projects
  • Hands-on contributor and thought leader across the entire Build and Release spectrum (integrations, testing, builds, deploys, and release processes).
  • Support and evolve our CI frameworks & environments (think containers, large-scale buildbot farms, and cloud) for unit tests, automated tests, build processes, and artifact repos.
  • Evaluating and adopting new tools to improve build release processes.

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas, designs, and issues.
  • Solid understanding of CI best practices and tooling, specifically BuildBot/Jenkins.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of projects, and help drive them to effective implementation

Required Experience

  • Requires 3+ years hands-on build release experience including extensive experience with branching.
  • Requires 3+ years working with Perforce and Git.
  • Requires 3+ years writing automation scripts using shell scripts, Python, Perl, or Ruby.
  • Knowledge of continuous integration.
  • Experience with windows and linux system administration is a plus
