About the Position

DHX Studios - Vancouver is looking for talented Character Designers with previous production experience to work on a really exciting upcoming girl's property! We’re looking for portfolios that show a strong understanding of human/creature form, a variety of styles, mouthcharts, handcharts, and turnarounds, and a keen eye for fashion!

Responsibilities

• Working with our Art Director and other Designers to create engaging, performable characters according to the style of the production
• Translating character description and attitude from script to visual design
• Submitting multiple design variations and revisions based on feedback from Directors
• Creating model sheets of character turnarounds and facial/anatomical expressions

Qualifications 

• Experience designing characters on a series preferred
• Experience in Flash is required
• Strong drawing ability and a solid sense of design for 2D animation
• Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school desired
• Experience in 3D Design is an asset
• A strong understanding of proportion, balance, perspective, dimension and dynamism
• Ability to take direction and work collaboratively within a team environment
• Ability to communicate professionally and positively
• Well organized with good time management skills
