Description
Our award winning Models Department is currently looking for
a new Head of Department (HoD). The Head
of Models Department is a role that couples artistic experience with very
strong managerial skills. The candidate should have a proven experience of managing
a department in all the aspects of production. This person should be an expert
in modelling, as well as competent in many aspects of the 3D pipeline and
should be comfortable and confident working with other departments, producers
and supervisors. Strong artistic skills are required, but this is primarily a
management job. The HoD of Models will report to the Assets Senior Head of
Department and work closely with Models Department Manager.
Responsibilities:
• Adds value
to all work wherever possible, while ensuring work is completed on time and to
specification.
• Along with
the Models Department Leads, ensures that the work produced meets the company’s
standards and expectations.
• Assists
Production Department with bidding new work.
• Play a key
role in shaping the future direction of the Models Department.
• Acts as an
ambassador for the Models Department both within Weta Digital and externally.
• Attends
relevant show meetings (Dailies, Sequence Turnovers, Stacks, etc.)
• Attends
department meetings (Models Department meetings, Asset Group meetings etc.)
• Administers
relevant cross department meetings to define any show specific needs and
requirements for delivery of a project.
• Supervises the Models Asset development
phase and works with the Models crew and other department supervisors to
develop tools, pipeline and workflows required.
• In
conjunction with Model Leads, provides guidance, instruction, and documentation
across multiple projects.
• Acts as a
mentor to all Modellers on a daily basis
• Provides all
the Modellers with constructive crew feedback.
• Attend and
contribute to interviews for new Modeller roles.
• Stay abreast
of industry standards and new innovations.
Required Experience:
• At least, 10
years industry experience or proven exceptional abilities.
• Extremely
developed organizational and time management capabilities to manage a large
department.
• Good
technical background related to pipeline, tools and workflow.
• Good problem
solving skills.
• Excellent
interpersonal sensitivities and adaptable communication styles.
• Proficiency
with relevant software packages, both third party and proprietary.
