Senior Lighting Artist

Description

Sledgehammer Games is looking for a talented Senior Lighting Artist for our Call of Duty title. Primary Responsibilities:

  •         Work with Level Designers, Environment Artists, Team Leads, and Art Director to craft high quality lighting for game levels and cinematics.
  •         Author pre-baked and real-time lighting via proprietary software.
  •         Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimize when required.
  •         Use proprietary scripting language to author lighting events and post effects.
  •         Create and tune lighting related visual effects including light flares, glows, and post effects.
  •         Debug technical issues.
  •         Provide suggestions and direction to other members of the lighting team, and incorporate feedback from team members into work.

 

Requirements:

  •         At least 5 years of experience as a lighting artist on console hardware (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3).
  •         Integrity, intelligence, and energy.
  •         Experience with real-time and pre-baked lightmapping tools and pipelines.
  •         Understand composition and the ability to enhance narrative through lighting.
  •         Experience with Physically Based Rendering tools.
  •         Understanding of shaders and materials, including media and light interaction.
  •         Working knowledge of Maya, Photoshop and real-time game authoring environments.
  •         Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  •         Work samples must show quality real-time lighting created for console games.
  •         Ability to follow concept design reference and work with a wide range of styles.
  •         Must be self-directed at times and also function well within a team.
  •         Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  •         Interest in fine arts, design, painting, drawing, photography, cinematography, or other art-centric pursuits.

 

Preferred:

  •         Have a passion for gaming.
  •         Experience with one or more scripting / programming languages.
  •         Working knowledge of industry standard rendering programs such as Mental Ray, Arnold, Key Shot, Bunkspeed, V-Ray, Maxwell, etc.
  •         Knowledge of HDR photography and general understanding of camera functionality.
  •         Knowledge of color theory and strong sense of light, shadow and composition.
  •         Film / TV visual effects, lighting and compositing experience a plus.
  •         Experience with Radiant engine.
