SINGAPORE Matchmove/Layout Artist
Description
MatchMovers are responsible for tracking, replicating, and modeling in a 3D environment, simple to medium level shots to be used by Animators and Technical Directors under the direction and guidance of their supervisors.
- Contributes creatively by suggesting ideas and solutions to production problems.
- Layout: Has ability to over-ride, extend, alter and/or design camera moves to enhance previously shot footage with existing camera moves.
- Proactively works with team to create best practices, works with less experienced artists to help enforce them.
- Keeps abreast of current trends and tools being used in-house and across the industry for respective discipline.
- Actively works across departments in shot groups. Provides updates to production and other artists on shot progress.
- Shares new techniques and workflows with others in the department as well as division.
- Builds rapport with counterparts in other ILM studios.
- Takes on mentorship of less experienced artists
Requirements:
- Strong 2d tracking and camera matchmove solving skills, ability to deal with manually nudging difficult 2d tracks and setting manual keys to help solver along.
- Strong skills in efficient 3d modeling. Ability to use lidar / survey and photogrammetry for improving, extending or modifying sets for both solver issues and shadow casting geometry.
- Strong curve manipulation skills for smoothing, over-riding translations, etc.
- Ability to solve for object tracking.
- Ability to create rigs for cameras & create basic rigs for matching simple objects into scene.
- Ability to understand and work with rigs for character match anim.
- Experience with using Imocaptain / tracking and retargeting techniques for character matchanim.
- Ability to move animation between different coordinate systems and constraint mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of retime pipeline.
- Ability to work with stereoscopic footage using a pre-defined workflow.
- Contributes to the technical design and implementation of shots.
- Understands gimbal lock issues and ways to avoid
- High proficiency in troubleshooting shotfiles, caches and scenes being transferred between departments.
- Understanding of how camera changes affect projection techniques being transferred between the DM and COMP teams.
- Ability to estimate time to complete tasks.
- Understands importing and exporting models across packages.
- Ability to execute tasks within allocated bid days.
- Ability to run multiple shots and self manage time spent on each.
- Demonstrates good trouble shooting skills.
